The 3614/3624 series established a number of conventions that are still in use
In benchmarks, this alternative can run anywhere between 2x to 120x faster than Web streams in every runtime I've tested it on (including Cloudflare Workers, Node.js, Deno, Bun, and every major browser). The improvements are not due to clever optimizations, but fundamentally different design choices that more effectively leverage modern JavaScript language features. I'm not here to disparage the work that came before; I'm here to start a conversation about what can potentially come next.

Stream implementations can and do ignore backpressure; and some spec-defined features explicitly break backpressure. tee(), for instance, creates two branches from a single stream. If one branch reads faster than the other, data accumulates in an internal buffer with no limit. A fast consumer can cause unbounded memory growth while the slow consumer catches up, and there's no way to configure this or opt out beyond canceling the slower branch.,更多细节参见爱思助手下载最新版本
No custom ReadableStream class with hidden internal state. A readable stream is just an AsyncIterable. You consume it with for await...of. No readers to acquire, no locks to manage.。搜狗输入法2026对此有专业解读
